Job Description:
General Purpose:The Senior Cost Accountant shall hold
responsibility for managing the overall financial operations, and
will provide accurate information to the Business Team, including
analysis, budgeting, forecasting and preparing financial reports.
The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for directing and
managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing
and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as
well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to
top management and externally. The Senior Cost Accountant also
maintains the company's accounting systems and implements changes
as required. Travel may be required.Essential
Functions:Responsibilities that are requirements in order to
perform the job:Manage the accounting operations including the
review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts
receivable and statutory reportingResponsible for accuracy of all
inventory and fixed asset values in the accounting system.Maintain
and analyze the company's cost accounting system.Develop and update
standard costs in the bill of materials and for inventory
valuation.Planning, studying and collecting data to determine costs
of manufacturing activity such as raw material purchases, inventory
and labor.Work closely with plant personnel to ensure they are
following company inventory procedures.Coordinate cycle counts and
annual physical inventory including the investigation of major
variances to determine root causes.Validate the cost of goods sold
as part of the month-end close.Participate in Bill of Material
(BOM) set up, maintenance and review for manufactured items and
assist in making estimates for new and proposed product
costs.Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that
accounting activities are in accordance with established legal
regulatory and company policies and proceduresBudgeting and
forecastingPrepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and
annual operating results for each departmentWork with operations to
define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes
which impact customer quality and influence internal operating
efficiencyProvide strategic analysis as required to drive improved
decision makingWork with external auditors, and Resin Business
TeamPrepare and present financial information for quarterly and
annual reportsWork with sales team on product pricing, costing and
marginsGood project management skills and the ability to motivate
teams to produce quality work within tight timeframesProfessional
written and verbal communication skillsExcellent leadership,
communication, presentation, problem solving and organizational

reportingCoordinating the year-end audit and preparation of audited
financial statementsResponsible for the preparation of monthly
financial statements and external reporting to financial
institutions, ensuring that all reporting requirements are metAll

agenciesGeneration of reports of performance against
budgetsSupporting new systems or project selections and
implementation from a strategic finance and internal control
perspectiveEnsures rapid and consistent collection of receivables
by refining and implementing control mechanismsAssigns and
authorizes checks, purchase orders and invoicesPromotes and
maintains positive corporate relations with the financial
communityWith input from the Corporate Finance Manager, responsible
for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures and
controlsInteract and support other accounting staff as necessary

necessaryEducation/Experience Guidelines:Degree in
Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional
accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA, CMT)
preferredExtensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of
corporate accounting and financial managementExperience overseeing
audits performed by external audit firmsFinancial analysis,
budgeting and some strategic planning experience Physical
