Professor/Founding Director, Speech-Language Pathology Professor/Founding Director, Speech-Language Pathology D'Youville invites applications for a full-time, faculty appointment at the rank of associate/full professor to be the founding director of a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. This is a full-time, academic year appointment to commence as soon as possible, with the tenure home in a Department of the School of Health Professions. The School of Health Professions welcomes applications from dynamic, energized and committed persons who are ready to be a vital member of our scholar-practitioner team. We seek a highly motivated individual with demonstrated success in professional practice and post-secondary-level teaching. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational abilities, and leadership qualities. We seek candidates who have a demonstrated potential for collaborative leadership and shared faculty governance and who can implement the School's strategic plan while promoting new strategic teaching, research and community-based initiatives. The founding Director works with faculty and staff to realize the school's vision and mission and build a School of national and international distinction. The Director will be driven by a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will champion the University's mission of student success. The newly developed Speech-Language Pathology program will join D'Youville's School of Health Professions as one of nine departments with an annual enrollment of 1,000 students matriculated in undergraduate to doctoral degree programs. With a dedicated and engaged faculty committed to academic excellence and an inclusive environment for teaching and learning, the School of Health Professions embraces curricular innovation with a focus on inter-professional education. The School promotes scholarship among its faculty and students and is committed to maintaining a footprint of service that honors the spirit of Marguerite D'Youville. D'Youville is an innovative, private, coeducational institution serving 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students on the vibrant West Side of Buffalo, NY. D'Youville is launching a new health professions hub to provide a healthcare clinic, educational and workforce development opportunities, and new connections to the surrounding neighborhood. Under the leadership of President Clemo, D'Youville is immersed in ambitious change initiatives to further grow enrollment, improve health outcomes, and profoundly impact student success. Comprehensive strategic planning underway includes academic planning, technology planning, and significant investments in vital updates to campus facilities. Dedicated to building thriving, healthy communities, D'Youville is nurturing new and existing community partnerships. Buffalo, the second largest city in New York, is home to 21 institutions of higher education, numerous cultural attractions, two professional sports teams, and year-round outdoor activities. D'Youville is located in close proximity to Lake Erie, Niagara Falls, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The selected applicant will be responsible for: - writing the application for candidacy to ASHA and all subsequent accreditation activities and reports - planning, program management, and implementation of the new master's level program in Speech-Language pathology - curricular/clinical and academic policies and student success and progression - faculty hiring, evaluation, scholarship and professional development - assessment (course, clinical, program) and accreditation - service on college-wide committees and collaborate across schools and departments on campus initiatives - teaching and mentoring students - providing leadership and direction to the unit Qualifications: Required: 1. Holds a doctoral degree in speech-language pathology, audiology, or in speech, language, and hearing science, communication science disorders or related field 2. Holds a current State license to practice in professional area of expertise 3. Post-secondary teaching experience 4. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience 5. Knowledge or experience with the ASHA accreditation standards, processes, and practices 6. Demonstrated potential for success in fundraising and securing external support, particularly grants from public agencies and private foundations 7. Demonstrated ability to cultivate and develop positive relations with internal and external constituents including alumni, members of the community, and businesses, locally and beyond 8. Evidence of experience in curriculum or program development, including online degree programs Preferred: 1. Success as chair, program director, or other academic leadership position 2. Demonstrated experience in interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaborations 3. Demonstrated success in fundraising and securing external support, particularly grants from public agencies and private foundations 4. Demonstrated successful teaching in areas that complement the to be developed curriculum APPLICATION DEADLINE: This is an open until filled search.
