Job Description:

NE30 - Registered Nurse (Clinical Specialist) MAIN FUNCTION: The Clinical Specialist will have, as primary function, the coordination and regular review of health-related needs for individuals who receive services at NYSARC, Inc., Cattaraugus Niagara CountiesChapter. The Clinical Specialist functionsas an interdisciplinary team member providing consultation, training andoversight of nursing/health care needs.Duties & Responsibilities:1. Provides regular assessment and identification of nursing care needs with nursing care plans developed to effectively address needs.2. Ensures adequate medical care treatment in conjunction with other programs, the individual's medical doctor and other clinical/diagnostic service providers.3. Ensure compliance to OPWDD regulations related to health care/nursing.4. Assist with development, implementation and monitoring of policy and proceduresrelated to nursing.5. Follows OPWDD and state regulations regarding the administration of medications.6. Monitors the effects of medications including side effects and contraindications through review of documentation and communication with team members.7. Provides orientation and training to staff as necessary specific to the provision ofnursing and health related services.8. Acts as liaison on various program committees. 9. Coordinates and monitors all medically related issues and services regarding individuals.10. Works closely with the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure each individual'smedical needs are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.11. Ensures the safety and well-being of Individuals through application of agency safety policies and procedures.12. Attend case reviews as required by the Program. Attends staff meetings as required and provides in-service training as determined by Program requirements.13. Ensures that all individuals and their correspondents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect and allows individuals to fully exercise their human rights.14. Works with the Assistant Directors of Nursing and Behavior Intervention Supervisor to ensure quality medical services for all individuals.15. If assigned to an ICF site is responsible to ensure all medical requirements aremaintained with accurate records and documentation in addition to supervisingthe morning routine at the site. Ensure that active treatment activities areoccurring and the facility is clean.16. If assigned to an IRA, will work with Residential Staff to ensure all medicalrequirements are obtained in a timely manner.17. Responsible to comply with the Agency's Corporate Compliance plan and Code of Ethics.18. Responsible to report any suspected violations of the plan or Code of Ethics to immediate supervisor, program administrator or Agency's Corporate Compliance Officer.19. Responsible to adhere to the agency's and program's time and attendance policies including call-in protocol.20. May be required to have on-call responsibilities.21. Deliver and document services delivered in the format required by regulation andAgency/program Policy & Procedure.22. May be required to assume additional duties as defined by the Nursing Administrator.23. Maintains confidentiality of individual's information in accordance with the requirements of NYS Mental Hygiene Law and the Agency's HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures.24.
