Association only) Description: The Observation unit cares for adult
patients needing additional observation to determine if the
patient's condition is serious enough for hospitalization or if the
patient can be safely treated and released home. This unit operates
in a very fast-paced environment, turning over 20 to 27 patients
per day. The average length of stay for patients in this unit is 27
hours. Provider coverage is available 24/7. Care is provided for a
diverse adult population of both emergency observation and admitted
boarding patients. Patients range from those requiring a short stay
