years of Med/Surg experience Description: The Observation unit
cares for adult patients needing additional observation to
determine if the patient's condition is serious enough for
admission to the hospital or if the patient can be treated and
released home safely. The Observation unit operates in a fast-paced
environment that processes 20 to 27 patients per day. The average
length of stay in the unit is 27 hours. The unit has 24/7 provider
coverage. Care is provided for a diverse adult population,
including both emergency observation and admitted boarding
patients. Patients may range from short stays to full admissions.
The role requires adaptability to various shifts, including days,
evenings, nights, rotating schedules, on-call, and holiday coverage
as needed.
