Cardiac Technologist at UPMC Hamot! /n Are you a motivated and
experienced technologist looking for a flexible, team-oriented
opportunity? UPMC Hamot is seeking a Casual Invasive Cardiac
Technologist to support our busy and collaborative department. This
position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a supportive,
fast-paced environment and are excited to contribute to a strong
team culture. /n As a casual team member, you’ll be required to
work a minimum of three shifts within a six-week period, with
weekday-only shifts available — no weekends or holidays required.
Choose from 8-hour shifts (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) or 10-hour shifts
(7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) to suit your lifestyle. This position
supports our daily outpatient schedule and enhances flexibility for
staff across the department. /n You’ll collaborate with multiple
service lines including Interventional Radiology, Neuro
Interventional Radiology, and Vascular Surgery, giving you the
unique opportunity to work closely with departments throughout the

pay rate of this position may vary based on years of experience and
manager discretion. /n Responsibilities: /n /n - Ensure all images
within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and
tracked through the PACS and are properly networked to appropriate
electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges
are adequately entered for the procedures performed. /n - Maintain
continuing education and competency requirements for position. /n -
Demonstrate a strong ability to interact with both patients and
co-workers while displaying a high level of caring, listening,
dignity, and respect. /n - Able to work as team member within the
department and all other departments to expedite patient care
efficiently /n - Identify all patients properly by using two
patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing
procedures. /n - Review patient history and assess physician
orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal
results in the acquisition of data. /n - Document patient history
in electronic record as required /n - Maintain point of care
testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices
used for procedures /n - Demonstrate the ability to communicate
instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain
procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their
cooperation /n - Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate
radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional
procedures. /n - Exhibit a clear understanding of correct patient
preparation, equipment operations, and patient monitoring systems
/n - Demonstrate competency in functioning in the first assist
position. /n - Foster an environment that supports aseptic
technique during procedures and patient safety with the
incorporation of a time-out process. /n - Administer contrast under
the direction of the procedure physician. /n - Support other
departments as directed or assigned. /n - Must demonstrate a basic
knowledge of the operation of both equipment and supplies. /n -
Some responsibilities may not be applicable due to specific job
locations /n - Provide stand by call coverage, as scheduled, in
accordance with system-wide stand by call procedure/policy. /n -
Practice with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as
well as others in the procedure room, including appropriate use of
lead shielding and monitoring devices. /n - Assure documentation of
patient radiation exposure in electronic record. /n Required: /n /n
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology
(RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS). /n /n
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: /n /n - ARRT Certificate
OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required. /n - CPR certification
is required. /n - ACLS certification is desired upon hire. /n -
Successful completion of ACLS certification required within
orientation period. /n - New graduates have 1 year to obtain their
board certification. /n - ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional
Radiology OR ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac
Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive
Specialist Echocardiograph and Ultrasound /n - Advanced Cardiac
Life Support (ACLS) /n - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR
