Position Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse

registered nurse License: Current RN licensure Certifications: BLS,

Experience in the Emergency Department Description: The Emergency
Department Registered Nurse delivers high-quality compassionate
care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs and
identifies urgent or emergent care priorities. They collaboratively
provide direct care and apply appropriate interventions. The ED RN
evaluates patient progress and utilizes various invasive and
non-invasive procedures. They manage life-threatening and routine
emergency situations effectively. The ED RN employs
relationship-based care principles to alleviate anxiety and address
pain or discomfort. They assess the physiological, psychosocial,
emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups. The ED
RN connects with patients and families during triage. They
determine the initial management of patients and assign priority of
care according to triage standards. The ED RN establishes rapport
with patients and families and addresses comfort needs. They listen
carefully, assess nonverbal communication, and provide frequent
updates. The ED RN conducts primary assessments of critical needs
and documents any major deviations from the norm. They correctly
identify necessary steps and interventions required for care. Using
direct observation and patient/family interviews, they conduct
secondary assessments. The ED RN identifies contributing factors
and documents any suspicions of domestic violence or abuse. They
reassess patients to determine responses to treatment and respond
appropriately. The ED RN encourages cooperation among team members
to achieve the best patient outcomes. They teach others and
delegate tasks consistent with individual education and scope of
practice. The ED RN understands the responsibility to comply with
infection prevention strategies. They prepare patients and families
for diagnostic procedures and treatments. The ED RN makes
appropriate referrals for post-emergency care and educates patients
on continued care. They evaluate patient and family learning styles
to maximize understanding. The ED RN seeks to understand what is
important to patients and families, recognizing them as the central
focus of care. They create a Healing Environment as a key element
of their nursing practice. The ED RN keeps patients and significant
others informed throughout the care process. They anticipate
patient and family needs and maintain awareness of the patient’s
condition during their visit. The ED RN updates patient
communication boards throughout the emergency department stay.
