Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This opportunity is for a registered nurse specializing in stepdown care within a Level 2 trauma center. The position focuses on providing exceptional nursing care to patients recovering from various surgical interventions and trauma-related conditions. The facilitys stepdown unit provides critical support for patients who require close monitoring but do not need intensive care unit (ICU) level services. Location: Irving, TX The unit is located on the 5th floor of a major medical center in Irving, offering a modern work environment equipped with advanced technology, including Meditech electronic medical records. Responsibilities: Care for post-operative and trauma surgery patients including orthopedic, vascular, neurological, and general surgery cases. Monitor patients with complex diagnoses such as CVA, TIA, seizures, hypertensive crises, sepsis, respiratory distress, and cardiac conditions. Administer and manage intravenous drips, including critical medications like amiodarone, heparin, and nitroglycerin. Utilize telemetry monitoring and conduct patient assessments every four hours. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care and safety. Adapt to fluctuating patient acuity and emergent situations in a dynamic clinical setting. Qualifications: Current RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Experience in trauma or orthopedic nursing strongly preferred Familiarity with Meditech EMR system is a plus Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Schedule: Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM Additional Benefits: No on-call or floating requirements outside of stepdown service lines Exposure to a wide variety of patient cases in a high-acuity trauma center Collaborative team culture with experienced nursing staff This position offers contract employment with the possibility of travel and relocation flexibility to support career growth.
