Job Title: RN ED Observation Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room RN Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Rotating Shifts Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Two Years of Med/Surg Experience License: RN License (New York) Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS (Preferred) Must-Have: Telemetry Description: The Observation unit cares for adult patients needing additional observation. It determines if the patient's condition is serious enough for admission or if treatment allows for safe discharge. This is a fast-paced environment, turning over 20 to 27 patients per day. The average length of stay is 27 hours. There is 24/7 provider coverage available. Care is provided for a diverse adult population, including emergency observation and admitted boarding patients. Patients range from short stay to full admissions. Experience in telemetry is required. Certification in BLS from the American Heart Association is a must.
