Job Description:

General Purpose:The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers and partners. Essential Functions:Responsibilities that are requirements in order to perform the job:

  • Assists with administering and maintaining corporate infrastructure
  • Assists with administering and maintaining corporate WAN
  • Sets up, administers and maintains computer stations and software providing additional support when necessary
  • Performs basic and more complex troubleshooting, backup, archiving and disaster recovery
  • Installs and upgrades computer software and network equipment
  • Interacts with internal clients to resolve escalated help desk issues
  • Participates in the inventory management of software licenses, software, hardware and other IT supplies
  • Shares acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels
  • Performs hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including install/configure and support of desktop hardware/software and peripheral components
  • Act as an escalation point for Help Desk Level I
  • Own and manage issues through resolution, working with end users and a variety of business functions
  • Respond to and resolve IT service requests via phone, email, remotely and in person
  • Provide after-hours IT support as neededSupportive Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based on business needs:
    • Other duties as assigned or directed by managementKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
      • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
      • Strong computer skills adapting to different applications as needed
      • Must be able to work independently, be a self-starter, and multi-task
      • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
      • Must demonstrate good people skills
      • Ability to self-manage IT request tickets/issues to their completion
      • Must be able to travel in the U.S on occasion, and Internationally on rare occasionEducation/Experience Guidelines:
        • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems preferred
        • 3+ years of experience in an IT support role
        • A+ certification preferred
        • Experience managing and administering IT infrastructure (such as MS Exchange/O365, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and VPN)
        • Familiar with cloud computing (Azure)
        • Experience with virtualization technologies (Microsoft Hyper-V/VMWare)
        • Experience supporting Windows desktop and server technologies
        • Advanced experience in MS Office applications, including MS AccessPhysical Demands:These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work Environment:The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. On occasion, the employee will be exposed to wet/humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather, extreme heat/cold (non-weather), toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, working near moving mechanical parts, and working in precarious places.
