Description Executive Director

Niagara Organizing Alliance for Hope (NOAH) is seeking a highly talented and motivated Executive Director with a passion for racial and economic justice, and an appetite for deep and lasting transformation in the Niagara Falls and greater Niagara County area. NOAH is faith based community organizing coalition dedicated to building the civic capacity of ordinary people and equipping them to address social justice concerns through leadership development, negotiation, direct action and coalition building. NOAH is a multiracial and multi-faith federation of nearly 20 member congregations and community organizations from Niagara Falls and Niagara County. Our current organizing work focuses on creating greater workforce diversity, addressing economic disparities, and working to improve the quality of life for Niagara Falls residents.

Executive Director is responsible for continuing to build a powerful faith-based organization with a team of talented and courageous clergy and lay leaders from congregations and other community institutions in the region. The organization’s mission is to empower people and bring forth social justice by organizing faith communities and allies in the Niagara County, NY area.

We work to transform people, institutions and communities through a center of powerful, self-interested, confident, competent and collaborative leaders who express and act on a desire to live faithful and value-based lives.

NOAH is a member of the Faith in Action National Network (FIA), the largest faith-based community organizing network in the country. FIA is lifting up a new vision for America that is rooted in our shared moral values and democratic traditions.

NOAH has quickly established itself as an emerging force for positive change in diverse communities throughout greater Niagara Falls and Niagara County, training grassroots leaders, engaging clergy leaders with a vision rooted in their various faith traditions, and forging partnerships with a growing number of strategic allies to address issues in response to the needs of the community.

Responsibilities:

The Executive Director is an energetic, self-motivated individual with the capacity to work on the ground level of the organization as well as the capacity to develop staff, the board, and leaders. The position requires the ability to develop long-term relationships with a diverse volunteer population, clergy, elected officials, funding partners, and key stakeholders. Lastly, this management role assumes the responsibility to support leaders and staff in order to maintain the organization’s winning track record by overseeing organizing campaigns around education, voter engagement, local and state criminal justice, re-entry and anti-gun violence.

The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, often times under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism is crucial to this role. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important. An aptitude to problem solve and multi-task is also essential.

Above all, the ideal candidate will have a proven commitment to social justice, the capacity to thrive in a team-based atmosphere and express comfort working in a multi-racial, multi-faith environment.

The Executive Director represents NOAH to the community. In partnership with the Board members raise interest, awareness and funds. Must be able to effectively convey the NOAH mission and accomplishments to garner community support.

The Executive Director is responsible for leading and managing daily operations of the organization county-wide, and is accountable to the NOAH Board of Directors. The Executive Director will be held accountable for overseeing the following critical responsibilities:

Provide leadership with the tools to develop vision and goals to implement effective campaigns

Support all NOAH leaders in order to create successful campaigns
