Production Operator-Bagger (non-exempt, hourly); Niagara Falls, NY
STATUS: Full-Time, Permanent REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor JOB
SUMMARY: The position is to perform Bagger Operations in its
entirety. The Bagger will be required to perform duties as assigned
and conduct themselves in a professional manner. KEY TASKS &
RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee must operate the baggers per the
direction of supervision and the operating instructions, QP-9-7,
Bagging and Sampling of Finished Product. This includes, but is not
limited to: Obtain instructions for product packaging requirements
Review product packaging requirements per Production Plan prior to
packaging Add labels where necessary Verify or use the proper
pallet arrangement Fill bulk bags, paper bags, plastic bags, or
other finished product containers Maintain accurate bag and box
weights Record and execute all associated data and paperwork Bring
errors and discrepancies to the attention of leadership Employee
must operate and clean the mixers per the direction leadership and
the operating instructions, QP-9-8, Cleaning the Powder Mixer. This
includes, but is not limited to: Perform necessary lockout of
powder mixers Clean mixers in accordance with accepted practices At
shift turnover, the bagger must communicate with leadership and/or
the Relief Operator Assist shipping personnel in their duties when
needed Exercise good housekeeping (put packaging materials away
after use, and keeps work areas clean) Clean work area after every
shift; use a vacuum to clean bagger at end of each shift, when
needed; sweep floors as needed Beginning of shift duties Meet with
leadership to obtain assignment Walk the work area. Look
specifically for housekeeping issues, and safety issues Review work
instructions. Discuss with leadership any concerns they have End of
Shift Duties Walk the work areas. Look specifically for
housekeeping issues, and safety issues Make sure that shift
leadership is aware of any necessary communications and has all the
appropriate paperwork Notify maintenance personnel of equipment
irregularities and failures Perform additional duties as assigned
by Supervisor and/or Plant Manager SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
REQUIREMENTS: Strong attention to detail and ability to organize
priorities Strong mechanical aptitude Must be able to work well
with others and follow directions Must maintain poise under
pressure Must have basic math comprehension and problem solving
skills Must be capable of reading and interpreting documents such
as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals Ability to write and communicate clearly and
effectively on work orders and safety improvement recommendations
Ability to troubleshoot system performance related issues to solve
basic problems and find a safe effective solution EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or general education
degree (GED); or three to five years of related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Physical ability to safely operator motorized vehicles (tow motor,
powered hand trucks) Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely throughout
the work day WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regularly works in a manufacturing
and warehouse environment, and often works near moving mechanical
parts, motorized equipment and vehicles (tow motors) Routinely
exposed to airborne particulates, dust and caustic chemicals/raw
materials Daily contact with high temperature materials (steam,
slurry) and equipment conditions (spray tower) Can be exposed to
extreme heat/cold depending on the season The work environment
