Summary for Design Estimator:Responsible for understanding customer
projects, determining most feasible methods of manufacturing,
estimating costs and profitability in a fast-paced, every changing
environment. Certain projects will be managed through the quote
process, engineering, and initial integration into the shop
production to assure that customer requirements are fulfilled.
Prepare detailed working diagrams for the manufacturing of internal
or external products, including dimensions, fastening methods, and
other engineering information.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
for Design Estimator:Assesses cost effectiveness of products,
projects, or services. Analyzes prints and other documentation to
prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for customer
quotes.Consults with vendors, customers, and other departments to
discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.Confers with
engineers, managers, and other Team members on changes and
adjustments to cost estimates.Reviews material and labor
requirements, to decide whether it is more cost-effective to
produce or purchase components.Maintains estimating/quoting
records, reporting systems and procedures.Create prints to meet all
customer requirements. Use computer assisted design/drafting
equipment and MRP software. Evaluates Quote to Actual job
performance, updates respective quotes as necessary.Reverse
engineer products where necessary; produces drawings for shop use
or for vendors and subcontractors.Non-Essential Duties for Design
Estimator:Manage several projects at one time if needed. Maintains
safe and clean work environment; maintains compliance with all
established company and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending
educational workshops; reviews professional publications;
establishes personal networks; benchmarks state-of-the-art
practices; may participate in professional societies.Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Design Estimator: Knowledge of
fabricated sheet metal manufacturing.Experience with Solid Works,
Auto-Cad or other 3-D Software packages. Proficient in Microsoft
Office Suite, specifically Excel.Ability to multitask and run
multiple quotes concurrently, and to effectively cope with change,
shift gears comfortably.Proven ability to use sound, practical
judgement. Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and
researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data;
designs workflows and procedures.Translates concepts and
information into images; uses feedback to modify designs; applies
design principles; demonstrates attention to detail.Significant
interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers requires
excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.Experience
and Education for Design Estimator: Associates degree in Computer
Aided Design and Drafting or related degree preferred.Two years
related experience in estimating with preference for sheet metal
fabrication, machining, welding, and powder coat finishing.Special
Requirements for Design Estimator: Requires the use of the
following personal protective equipment when on the shop
floor:Safety glasses, steel toed shoes/boots.Must be able to:Work
safely in a fast paced environmentWork overtime, including weekends
