SUMMARY: Performs all electrical and mechanical operations required to maintain plant processes including automation and control systems. Installs and troubleshoots various equipment including electrical and electronic support systems. In addition, this position will be required to work together in a team or independently, work with management, work closely with production operators to identify the problem, attend training classes as defined by management, and other responsibilities as defined by the Maintenance Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Trouble Shooting: + Analyzes electrical problems. + Safely diagnoses problems using appropriate test equipment. + Repairs or replaces parts/equipment. + Preventative Maintenance: + Inspects plant to ensure proper functioning of equipment/systems. + Troubleshoots as required. + Cleans equipment during downtime. + Recalibrate production equipment?s? electrical components. + Coordinates preventative maintenance with production supervisors. + Configuration and Engineering of New Equipment + Talks to operators & supervisors to determine requirements for new equipment. + Determines what parts/equipment will be needed to meet requirements. + Draws electrical prints for parts/equipment. + Contacts vendors to order parts. + Completes and processes required paperwork. + Assists with development of equipment specifications. + Coordinates scheduled installation of new equipment. + Installations of New Equipment + Receives parts on order, installs electrical components and wiring in panels. + Mounts panel per specifications and connects to power source. + Installs wiring. + Makes final electrical terminations. + Tests to insure proper functioning of new equipment. + Perform these duties in a neat and workmanlike manner. + Inventory of Parts & Equipment + Monitors inventory on-hand. + Determines required parts & equipment + Contacts appropriate vendors + Completes and processes paperwork + Places inventory into stock as appropriate + Quality Improvement + Investigates problems identified by production personnel & supervision + Researches new approaches to solve problems & replace equipment + Implements new ideas + Monitors processes as required + High Voltage Equipment + Cleans transformer and high voltage equipment during plant shutdown + Coordinates with outside contractors to gain access to high voltage equipment. + Safety + Has completed Arc Flash Training + Follows National Electric Code + Ensures that alarms are functioning properly for eye-wash station & showers + Repairs any safety problems found throughout the plant + Uses proper tag-out & lock-out procedures + Works in a safe manner following standard safety operating procedures. + Uses common sense to prevent electrical injury + Wears appropriate arc flash and/or other personal protective equipment as required. + Operates forklift truck & other equipment in a safe & efficient manner. + Housekeeping + Cleans shop + Checks tools to ensure proper working order + Vacuums & blows down equipment to remove dust and contamination. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires ability to get along with others, patience, attention to details, and enthusiasm. Oversees other employees; therefore must have good interpersonal skills, ability to guide and counsel employees. Because this position works outside, as well as in the plant, working conditions will be cold in winter, hot and humid in summer. The plant is noisy, dusty. Works any shift as assigned and occasional overtime as required. Safety glasses and safety shoes required. Respirator and hearing protection recommended. Must be certified/licensed to drive a forklift truck, boom lift & scissor lift. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: + Minimum of 2-year degree in Electrical Construction & Maintenance and Journeyman Electrician with 5-years electrical experience. + Courses should include mechanical drawing, electricity, blueprint reading, science, mathematics, and computer skills. + Experience troubleshooting PLC?s, sensors, instrumentation, and other electronics.
