Essential Job Duties: The Optical Quality Assurance Measurement
Technician position inspects precision optical lenses and records
measured values. They work to industry standards inside a clean
environment with apparel provided. They will operate various
interferometric testing equipment accompanied by mechanical
instruments to record and manage test data. Through On the Job
Training (OJT), TITLE will: Add specific job responsibilities Read
and interpret blueprints, specification sheets, standards and
customer data Inspect optical parts for surface defects such as
pits, scratches, unpolished areas, bubbles, and chips, in
accordance to industry requirements Measure and record lens
dimensions, such as thickness, radius of curvature and surface
figure/roughness on in-process inspection data sheets Verify all
data is present and correct on in-process inspection data sheets
according to customer requirements Contact team members and team
leaders when discrepant material is identified Provide quality
audits to verify inspection processes are being carried out and
work with opticians on a continuous basis Advancement through the
Optical Quality Assurance Measurement Technician ranks is attained
via increasing levels of education, experience, industrial skills,
math skills, computing skills, responsibility and leadership
potential and effectiveness. Education Requirements: A High School
Diploma or GED required. No prior experience required. Associates
degree or vocational training in manufacturing, materials science
or machining desired. Minimum Requirements: Add requirements

to collect, interpret, and record data accurately Excellent work
ethic Excellent communication skills Ability to follow directions
and prioritize with attention to detail Ability to work in a
challenging, fast paced environment with good time management
skills Analytical troubleshooting / problem solving Other Skills
and Experience: Add skills and experience Experience with Microsoft
Office, Epicor, and MetroPro Ability to handle repetitive tasks
while maintaining consistency, accuracy, and efficiency Ability to
use the following equipment: surface profilers, interferometers
Willingness to train other staff on the use of measurement
equipment Demonstrate basic math skill competency, including:
decimals and unit conversion (standard/metric) Strong multi-tasking
skills Initiative and mental concentration to learn new skills and
techniques Availability on off-shifts and occasional
Saturday/Sunday work hours Prior experience inspecting/handling
optics is a plus Work Requirements: Physical Demands: While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.
The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing. Specific
vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger
dexterity, including ability to grasp. Work Environment: This
position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level can
vary from quiet to loud frequencies. May involve the use of oils
and solvents. Generally works in a clean environment and works to
maintain the environment as such. May require area specific safety
training The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical
parts and fumes May be assigned to various production areas as
